The artist from Almeria, Ginés Parra, belongs to the second generation of Spanish artists of the so-called School of Paris; that is to say, he is one of those who arrived in the "city of light" after the end of the First World War, between 1918 and 1939, in his case in 1919.
Parra, like any true author, has a personal style achieved after an initial stage in which Cubism was his point of reference, and whose lesson will endure in the geometrisation and formal rigour so characteristic of his language. After this period, it was Fauvism and its arbitrary expression of colour that most decisively shaped his unmistakable style, based on essential painting, free of anecdote, with strong and forceful graphics, which gave it a certain expressionist character. A strong, dense, rough brushstroke which, together with his thick, black outlines, endow this composition with a singular beauty and monumentality.
